Choose the right handbag for your body

Believe it or not, the type of handbag you choose has the power to make or break your look. And picking the right handbag has more to do with size and form than you think! If you’re planning to splurge on a new handbag real soon, bother with colours and prints later. First, read this guide on choosing a handbag that works with your body type and flatters your body shape.

 
For small, petite women
Think of scale; if you’re small and petite, an oversized bag will overwhelm your frame. Choose a small to medium size handbag that has a short or mid-length strap. Bags with longer straps will draw the eye down and make you look shorter. Note that wider bags will also make you look shorter. To make your torso appear elongated, go for bags that are vertically longer.

 

For tall, thin women
Stay away from boxy, structured bags that stand away from you, opting for slouchy ones that mould to the shape of your body. Bags that are too wide, too big, or too small won’t flatter your body. Bags with very short straps will make you look taller than you are; draw the eye down with a bag with a longer strap.

 

For curvy or plus-size women
Again, proportion comes into play. If you’re plus-size, a small bag will only make you look larger than you are. However, don’t go for enormous bags that are round and slouchy as they will add bulk to your hips and thighs. Instead, go for medium-sized structured bags that lay flat against your body.
